I was going to write a story
'bout me and you realized it bored me
nobody cares, takes too much time
not important, not on their dime
something about how we could have
seen each other, maybe crossed paths
I was going to pour my heart out
but it'd be a waste of time now
something 'bout how fate had placed us
accross the aisle on the school bus
some romantic allegory
everyone should love our story
a sappy tale of youth and love
and crazy happenstance
about how we were oh so close
and missed each fleeting chance
some stupid poem where you and I
were walking the same way
but neither of us turned around
and saw the light of day
just about to say a few things
write a few words I'd maybe sing
something 'bout how we didn't know
we're back to back at some punk show
dance together, breathe the same air
but I digress, no one will care

Ended up seeing Peter at the pearly gates

Pulled a couple tours in Vietnam
Watched over me with love that poured
Gave his life preaching for the lord
Then one day,
he up and passed away,
If we could talk now, I wonder what he'd say
My neighbor Jess, he was quite the mess
Lonely kid that God forgot to bless
Mean to stray cats, beat up on his dog
Never knew his dad, lived with his grandma
He ended it all
with his brains on the wall
We never understood what the hell the kid saw
Can't forget Jane who lived on Main
Tattered and tattooed, with beat up veins
Never had an issue with procuring a stash
Selling off her body for a stipend of cash
Then it got weird,
she just up and disappeared,
And nobody's seen her in a couple of years
